“It’s one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it’s another to think yours is the only path.”
― Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
I was searching for a fitting quote for this piece I name “connection” in my mind. The rings are attached to the fabric 3 facing each other in the same thread color. This is the quality of the number 3 I like very much because of it’s dynamic and yet stable characteristics. When I finished attaching the rings I realized, that there was missing something. The dynamic element, the red thread – the connection. The one thing that breathes life into the perfect order. When I began this project in my mind the rings were a symbol of people who meet and connect. But there is no actual connection between the rings.
The line is the one that connects the rings.
Now that I look at it, the line is more like the path of many people (the different colors of the line) who each master steps of their own way and thus create the big picture – the connection – all together.
I have chosen this quote by Paolo Coelho because it reflects something I forget sometimes. I had to put A LOT of strength, perseverance, and courage in the way I’m going now and which was not seen by many people to be the right way at all. This path did not only strengthen me in the way I do things, but it also makes me a little bit controlling when it comes to my dearest, too. So in the spirit of connecting and letting others go their way, too, I’m working on that.
