blanket stitch flower embroidery tutorial
blanket stitch flower
Blanket stitch is one of those underrated stitches that are incredibly versatile. In this blanket stitch flower, it is used to paint the petals and also create a distinct nice outline. You can go significantly bigger with this blanket stitch flower than with other flowers in this series!
Stitching the petals
Blanket stitches are worked from right to left. Make the blanket stitches tilt towards the center. Also, make sure to use different lengths of stitches to achieve a more organic and vivid look of the flower petals.
The closer each blanket stitch sits to their neighbor stitches the more coverage you will get. For a lighter appearance, set the stitches further apart.
Add the center part
Now, it’s time for the center part. Use satin stitches to create the shading inside the inner petals. Then, use satin stitch to embroider the circle in there, too. Et voilà, you have finished your blanket stitch flower!
