lollipop flower embroidery tutorial
The lollipop flower is made of loops fixated by a set of single stitches. You can use it as a standalone flower or spread multiple lollipop flowers all over the place. Keep in mind, that the loops are quite fragile and might not be the best choice for embellishing clothes.
Making the loops
First, take a sewing pin or an additional needle and pin it right where you want your lollipop flower to be.
Then, insert your needle from under the fabric right where the sewing pin sits and go up. Now, wrap your thread around the two entry/exit points of your sewing pin. Wrap very carefully and make sure you don’t pull the thread too tight or too loose.
I used the full 6 strands for this sample. You can absolutely use less or even more strands of embroidery floss. Keep in mind, that you have to wrap much more often with a lower number of threads.
Fixating the loops
Now, it’s time to fixate the loops with some straight stitches. With your embroidery needle, go underneath the loops from the center outwards. Make sure you don’t catch any threads or fabric.
Then, stick the needle right beside where you began the stitch.
To secure the loops further, make some more stitches to each side of the first stitch.
With backstitch embroider the greens, too.
