Mandala embroidery pattern SET available at Etsy, Dawanda and Craftsy
I combined my 4 Mandala patterns to one set. Every pattern has a different approach: The flower mandala has some knots and different outline stitches, the gem mandala is a satin stitch and chain stitch practice, the star shaped mandala is chain stitch galore and introduces the star rhodes stitch as a centerpiece and the snowflake mandala is a cute little piece to try shadow quilting.
If you want to give Mandalas a try, here is my free hearts mandala embroidery pattern:

Cleaning up loose ends in knitted socks is my new hobby at the moment. Why do I work with colors again? Ahhh right, colors are awesome. But really, why does color knitting need to involve so many loose ends to sew in?
Probably I should use some of these methods to avoid finishing-boredom:
- russian join
- weaving in ends on the go (I would do this with only 1 thread though and weave in the new thread tail in the next row/round)
- braided join (similar to the russian join but extra tight)
In my opinion the russian join and the braided join are the best methods if you what your reverse side clean and no risk of loosening ends. However both are quite time consuming and need a tapestry needle at hand which is not always the case.
A while ago I saw how Lupin wound her embroidery threads on cardboard bobbins. I did a lot of embroidery lately so my embroidery thread box got a little bit tangled up and well MESSY. Then I remembered the beautiful colours neatly composed in a box and I thought - why not?
So I cut up A LOT of cardboard laying around and wound up all the threads I was using. Et voilà here is the result:
Vor einer Weile sah ich wie Lupin ihre Stickfäden auf kleine Kärtchen gewickelt hat. Da ich in letzter Zeit viel gestickt habe, sah war meine Stickgarnkiste ein einziger Saustall. Man kennt das ja, man zieht am Faden und dann verrutscht das in der Banderole, dann bleibt da Farbe Nr. 2 hängen und so geht das weiter. Dann fielen mir die sauber aufgewickelten Kärtchen wieder ein und ich dachte mir - warum......
